So... Thor casting rumor...
This is actually what I'm hearing:

Just a "maybe" at this point, not at all definite.

My opinion: why not?

Well, they need some means of luring the audience into the theater, cause I'm pretty sure the Thor name isn't going to do that on its own. And hey, maybe that means they'll go with the Ultimates version of Thor, which I vastly prefer to the conventional one.

As both characters or just as the Big Man?

Armor DOES make the God!

I..don't know. Brad Pitt has always been good at playing men who are special but also desperately flawed -- extremely *human* people -- extremely gifted in one direction and doomed at the same time. I'm not sure I could watch him play Thor. wulfgar_toy_guy has a point about the armor, though.

At least this way we'd be guaranteed that they'd go with the clean-shaven Thor.

Awesome, if his price range doesn't cause problems for Avengers. Although having a big name would be good. I showed Vi who was playing Thor and she said "The Norse diety or an obscure superhero?" Guess he's not as well known as I thought. And I can't think of any other muscular blonde actors who'd fit the role and not be an unknown.

Pitt's a great choice if they go for the "This might just be a crazy guy who found a magic hammer." Which, given Thor's King James dialog in the standard timeline, I would much prefer anyway.
